Disclaimer

We will only offer our service to correct mileage or repair dashboards, this can easily happen by jump starting the car where a hike in the voltage has occurred, removing the battery, or one of many other reasons.

Our services must be used with the intention that they are for legitimate reasons. By accepting our service the customer acknowledges this to be true. You must note that if a customer sells the vehicle on to someone else then it is the seller’s duty to inform the new buyer of these changes.

We comply fully with all the laws regarding odometer correction and it is not an offence in this country to change the odometer on your own personal vehicle or to correct a false reading, it is an offence to sell the vehicle knowing that the reading is lower than that of the actual reading. This onus is upon the owner only.

If the vehicle’s mileage cannot be guaranteed you must display a disclaimer on the odometer the same size or larger than the odometer itself. If you see these disclaimers you may regard the mileage as not genuine:

(example)

WARNING – THIS MILEAGE IS INCORRECT

WARNING – CHECKS WERE UNABLE TO CONFIRM THE ACCURACY OF THIS MILEAGE

When you are buying from a motor trader look out for a disclaimer, this may state something to the effect that the mileage maybe incorrect and should not be relied on. You shouldn’t have to look too hard, because it should be precise, bold and compelling. And if you can’t see it then the motor trader is telling you that the mileage is correct.

Terms & Conditions.

We reserve the right to refuse a mileage correction issue if the vehicle has been tampered with previously, or the customer seems dubious.

We may refuse to continue with a job if upon removing the dash if we find that the dash shows evidence of tampering. (Please note you will still be liable to pay the agreed sum)

No vehicle will be released until full payment is made.

Vehicles not collected on completion will have a £50.00 penalty attached and will be charged a further £25.00 per day thereafter up to a maximum of 30 days, thereafter we reserve the right to sell the vehicle to recover our costs.

All prices quoted are plus VAT weather quoted by phone or e-mail.

We will only accept a job if requested by the keeper, we will only correct the mileage and we will not accept responsibility from anyone complaining that another component has failed. Data stored in the mileage chip does not affect any other part of the vehicle.

Any warning lights showing before the job is taken on, is noted and the customer will be advised.

This service is to be used at the sole risk if the customer, we will not be held responsible should problems arise after leaving our premises.

This service is offered at the entire risk of the customer, and we will not be held responsible for any issues that may arise during or after the work is being completed.

Fix My Mileage will not be held responsible for any illegal misuse of this service. We repair digital mileage when it has been corrupted for any of the following reasons.

  • Dash replacements, new or second hand
  • The vehicle has been converted from kmh to mph and has an incorrect odometer reading
  • The vehicle memory module has been corrupted (e.g. jump starting, changing battery, accidental, vandal damage etc)
  • If you alter the mileage you should tell the next owner of the vehicle there has been a change in mileage.

Please read the following statement from Trading Standards:

If an odometer reading is found to be incorrect an offence may have been committed under the Trade Descriptions Act 1968 if the vehicle was supplied to you or offered for supply to you in the course of a trade or business, And if a private individual sells you a clocked motor vehicle then an offence may have been committed under the Theft Act 1968. A breach of the Trade Descriptions Act 1968 is not a breach of contract. Should the trader involved be successfully prosecuted the courts may award you some compensation, that being the difference in value between the true and false mileages. You will find it very rare for the courts to order complete reinstitution.
