How to change a vehicles mileage
This question is often asked, how is mileage correction performed? There isn’t one set way to carry out mileage correction on a vehicle, primarily a lot depends on the age of the vehicle and then it simply comes down to each manufacturer. There are 2 types of displays one is analogue the other is digital, the analogue system uses a set of numbers rotating on a drum which rotates on a spindle, these usually operate via gears and have a direct link by cable to the gearbox, As the gearbox end rotates it subsequently rotates the gears in the dashboard which in turn rotates the drum, miles can be changed on these vehicles however it requires physical removal of the dash, the entire speedometer has to be dismantled to expose the gearbox settings, by physically rotating these digits any combination can be set. Getting the alignment of the numbers can be very difficult but not impossible.
